Click the Button Skill Tree
Every skill, unlock condition, and effect — organised by branch.
Navigating the Skill Tree
The skill tree in Click the Button is divided into three branches: Click Power, Passive Income, and Collection Optimisation. Each skill has a specific unlock condition tied to your play progress, and each provides a unique effect that changes how one or more game systems work.
Skills unlock in a roughly linear progression — you will encounter skills in the order they are listed in each branch as you play. Some skills have prerequisites within their branch, meaning you must unlock one skill before another becomes available. The game clearly marks prerequisite relationships in the skill tree UI.
This guide covers every skill in each branch. The Best Build page provides a specific recommended order for unlocking skills if you want an optimised progression path.
Click Power Branch
The Click Power branch contains skills that amplify your active clicking income. These skills are most valuable for players who play in active sessions rather than running the game passively.
Rapid Clicks is the first skill in the Click Power branch, unlocked after one hundred total clicks. It increases your effective CPS by a small percentage. This skill is modest in isolation but important as a foundation for later click power skills.
Click Mastery unlocks after one thousand total clicks and provides a direct percentage bonus to your Money Per Click. This is one of the most impactful early skills because it applies to every click you make for the rest of the game.
Chest Burst unlocks after five thousand clicks and adds a chance for each click to generate an additional chest without consuming a click. The chance is small but meaningful over thousands of clicks, effectively providing a minor CPS boost.
Combo Bonus unlocks after ten thousand clicks and provides a multiplicative bonus to MPC that increases the longer your clicking session continues without pausing. This rewards sustained active play with dramatically higher income rates.
Final Click is the capstone skill of the Click Power branch, unlocked after fifty thousand total clicks. It dramatically increases the effect of all other Click Power branch skills, making it the most impactful single skill for active clickers.
Passive Income Branch
The Passive Income branch contains skills that amplify your automatic earnings. These skills are most valuable for players who run the game in the background or who want their idle time to contribute meaningfully to progression.
Idle Earnings is the first Passive Income skill, unlocked after two hundred total clicks. It activates your MPS system, which starts at zero and only begins generating income after you have purchased your first passive income upgrades. This skill is essential for any passive strategy.
Compound Interest unlocks after two thousand total clicks and applies a compounding multiplier to your MPS. The effect is subtle at low MPS values but becomes dramatic as your passive income grows through upgrades and other skills.
Offline Boost unlocks after eight thousand clicks and increases the rate at which passive income accumulates when you are not actively clicking. For players who frequently leave the game running in the background, this skill significantly improves the value of idle time.
Passive Surge unlocks after twenty thousand clicks and causes your MPS to temporarily increase during active clicking sessions. This bridges the gap between active and passive play styles, rewarding players who click actively while still providing meaningful passive benefits.
Auto Collection is the capstone skill of the Passive Income branch, unlocked after forty thousand total clicks. It causes a portion of your MPS to be applied automatically to chest opening, effectively giving you a small amount of passive chest generation. This skill is particularly valuable for collection-focused players.
Collection Optimisation Branch
The Collection Optimisation branch contains skills that improve your item acquisition and collection completion speed. These skills are valuable for all players but become essential for players targeting full collection completion.
Lucky Drop is the first Collection Optimisation skill, unlocked after five hundred total clicks. It provides a small increase to the probability of receiving higher rarity items from chests. This skill has a compounding effect on collection speed over time.
Collection Sense unlocks after three thousand clicks and causes the game to notify you when you are approaching a new item from a tier you have not yet completed. This quality-of-life skill does not change drop rates but helps you notice significant drops during intense clicking sessions.
Set Hunter unlocks after fifteen thousand clicks and increases the Collection Bonus percentage provided by completing tier sets. This skill directly amplifies the value of every tier completion, making it one of the most impactful skills for long-term progression.
Rare Finder unlocks after thirty thousand clicks and adds a chance for chests to contain bonus items from a tier above what would normally be drawn. This skill can occasionally produce extraordinary drops that dramatically accelerate collection progress.
Perfect Collection is the capstone skill of the Collection Optimisation branch, unlocked after sixty thousand total clicks. It doubles the Collection Bonus from every tier set, making it the most impactful single skill in the game for players pursuing full collection completion.
Cross-Branch Skills
A small number of skills provide effects that span multiple branches rather than belonging to a single progression axis. These skills are typically unlocked later in the game and provide general bonuses rather than specialised benefits.
Golden Touch unlocks after twenty-five thousand clicks and provides a global multiplier to all earnings from both clicks and passive income. This is one of the most universally valuable skills in the game regardless of build.
Time Warp unlocks after forty-five thousand clicks and causes both MPC and MPS to receive a percentage bonus based on your total play time. This skill rewards long-term commitment to the game with increasingly powerful bonuses.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to common questions about the game.
Do I need to unlock skills in a specific order?
Within each branch, some skills have prerequisites that require you to unlock earlier skills first. The game UI shows these dependencies clearly. You can skip around between branches freely, though.
Is there any reason not to unlock a skill?
All skills provide positive benefits with no downside. There is no reason to avoid unlocking any skill once you meet its unlock condition.
Can I see which skills I have unlocked in my current save?
Yes. The skill tree UI in the game shows locked skills as greyed out, unlocked skills as active, and your current progress toward the next unlock condition.
