Understanding Rarity Tiers

The item collection in Click the Button is organised into six rarity tiers. Each tier contains a pool of unique items, and collecting every item in a tier awards a Collection Bonus. The six tiers, from most to least common, are: Broken, Nice, Expensive, Robust, Nocturnal, and Extraterrestrial.

The tier a player encounters most frequently in early play is Broken. Most of your first hundred chests will contain Broken-tier items, which is by design — Broken-tier items are common enough to let you build a basic economic foundation quickly, while higher tiers provide a long-term chase that keeps the collection loop engaging.

Broken Tier — The Foundation

The Broken tier is the entry point of the collection system. Items in this tier drop frequently, with some specific items appearing often enough that dedicated players can complete the full Broken set within their first few hours. The Collection Bonus from completing the Broken tier is modest but meaningful — it provides an early multiplier that makes every subsequent income event slightly more valuable.

The Broken tier teaches you how the collection system works without demanding excessive time investment. By the time you have completed the Broken set, you will understand the drop mechanics, the collection UI, and the notification system well enough to approach higher tiers with confidence.

Key items in the Broken tier include starter click boosters that increase your MPC by a small percentage and basic passive income items that introduce you to the MPS system. These items are not powerful in isolation, but their combined effect with other Broken items creates a foundation of roughly fifteen to twenty percent additional earnings on top of your base upgrade levels.

Nice Tier — The First Real Challenge

The Nice tier represents the first meaningful collection challenge. Items drop less frequently than Broken items, and some specific Nice-tier items sit at the bottom of their tier rarity, making them almost as difficult to find as Robust-tier items. The Nice Collection achievement is one of the early milestones that experienced players target.

The Nice tier introduces more powerful effects than the Broken tier. Items here include moderate MPC boosters, meaningful MPS contributions, and the first global multiplier items. Completing the Nice set provides a Collection Bonus noticeably larger than the Broken bonus, which makes the increased drop difficulty worthwhile.

Players report that the Nice tier takes anywhere from ten to thirty hours to complete depending on clicking speed and play session length. The variation is driven by the specific item distribution within the tier — some players get lucky with early rare Nice drops while others experience longer dry spells.

Expensive Tier — The Mid-Game Collection

The Expensive tier marks a significant jump in difficulty. Items here drop infrequently, and the internal distribution within the tier means that a few specific items are genuinely difficult to find. The Expensive Collection achievement is a mid-game milestone that most players achieve after twenty to fifty hours of play.

The item effects in the Expensive tier are substantially stronger than lower tiers. A fully equipped Expensive loadout can provide multiplicative bonuses that dramatically accelerate your income. For many players, the Expensive Collection Bonus is the point at which their income genuinely takes off.

Robust Tier — The Long Game

The Robust tier requires serious commitment. Items drop rarely, and completing the full set is a milestone that only dedicated players achieve. The Robust Collection Bonus is one of the most impactful in the game — it provides a large multiplier that compounds with all other bonuses.

Players targeting Robust Collection should expect to invest dozens of hours past the Expensive completion point. The specific items in this tier have powerful effects that make the chase worthwhile even setting aside the collection achievement itself.

Nocturnal Tier — The True Collector Challenge

The Nocturnal tier is where the collection system shows its true depth. Items are extraordinarily rare, and completing this set represents hundreds of hours of play for most players. The Nocturnal Collection achievement is one of the rarest Steam achievements among players who own Click the Button.

The item effects in the Nocturnal tier are exceptional. Fully collecting this tier essentially requires a player to have engaged deeply with every other system in the game, because the passive income and collection bonuses from lower tiers are what make sustained high-volume clicking viable.

Extraterrestrial Tier — The Final Challenge

The Extraterrestrial tier is the apex of the collection system. Items in this tier are vanishingly rare, and completing the full set places you among the most dedicated Click the Button players. The Extraterrestrial Collection achievement is the rarest achievement in the game and represents a significant investment of time and attention.

The Extraterrestrial Collection Bonus is the largest multiplier in the game. For players who have completed all other tier sets, the Extraterrestrial bonus compounds on top of everything else to produce income rates that dwarf anything available to incomplete collectors.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common questions about the game.

What is the most difficult tier to complete?

The Extraterrestrial tier is the hardest, followed by Nocturnal. These two tiers require the most play time and the most luck with specific item drops.

Does completing a tier change anything besides the achievement?

Yes. Completing a tier removes its items from the drop pool and awards a Collection Bonus multiplier. This makes completing tiers one of the most impactful things you can do for long-term progression.

Are items within a tier equally rare?

No. Each tier has an internal rarity distribution. Some items near the bottom of a tier are almost as rare as items in the next tier up. This is what makes completing a full tier set challenging.
